James “Jim” R. Bond, 78, of Massillon, passed away on Monday, June 14, 2021. James was born on September 20, 1942, in Bertie, NC, the son of the late Willie and Queenie (Speller) Bond. Jim had his own trucking business which he operated for 32 years. He was a very sociable man, funny, and never met a stranger. He enjoyed fishing. He was also a member of Peoples Baptist Church in Canton. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandson, Micah and his brothers, Willie H. and Luther Bond. He is survived by his loving wife, Elizabeth (McLin) Bond, whom he shared 57 years of marriage; son, Jeffrey Bond; grandchildren, Aaron Bond, and Skye Bond; sister, Jackie Garner; brothers, Randy (Phyllis) Bond and Curtis Bond; and a host of nieces and nephews. A Homegoing Celebration will be held on Tuesday, June 22, 2021, at 11 a.m. at the Paquelet Funeral Home in Massillon. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 10-11 a.m. before the service.
