James N. Berbari, 62, of Jackson Township, passed away on Friday, May 19, 2017 at Bethany Nursing Home in Canton. Jim was born in Massillon, Ohio on May 29, 1954 to the late Joseph & Evelyn (Elum) Berbari. He was a 1972 graduate of Central Catholic High School, as well as a graduate of the University of Akron where he received his B.S. Degree in Education. He married Cynthia Mowery on May 31, 1990. They shared 26 years together and have 3 beautiful children. Jim was a math teacher at Washington High School for 23 years and also the golf coach at the high school for 20 years. During his teaching career, he received many awards, including Teacher of the Year. He was also an avid sports fan, especially Massillon Tigers and the Cleveland Indians. One of Jim’s passions included his love for Disney and going there annually. He was also extremely proud of his Lebanese heritage and was a wonderful Lebanese cook. His greatest passion of all though, was being a husband and father. His three children meant the world to him and he was very proud of all their accomplishments. Jim will be deeply missed by his loving wife, Cindie; children, Brooke, Bradley and Anthony Berbari; siblings, Dianne Day, Edward Berbari, Margaret Berbari and Joey Berbari; and a large extended family that will all miss him. The family will receive friends on Monday, May 22, 2017 from 4-8 p.m. at the Paquelet Funeral Home in Massillon. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 23, 2017 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church at 10 a.m. with Fr. Raymond Paul officiating. Burial will take place following the service at St. Joseph’s Cemetery. The family would like to thank the Massillon teachers and staff, our friends, Dr. Baum and her family, the staff at Bethany and Crossroads Hospice, and most of all, our family for their overwhelming support, care, prayers, and visits during Jim’s illness. God bless each and every one of you. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to either the Berbari children college education fund or to the Washington High School scholarship Fund for golf team members.
