James “Jim” H. Hawksworth, 91, of Massillon, passed away December 8, 2022. He was born in Philipsburg, Pennsylvania on September 4, 1931, to the late John Hawksworth and Annabelle and Joseph Smick.
Jim enlisted into the Air Force at the age of 19 where he proudly served as a military police officer for the United States Air Force Security Forces. He did two tours to Vietnam and earned an Air Force Commendation Medal, as well as a Bronze Star. Jim faithfully served and protected his country for 20 years before retiring as Master Sergeant.
Following his military career, Jim then worked at Timken as a sergeant on the security force for over 20 years.
He was also a 32nd Degree Mason with Clinton Lodge 47 and a member of the Scottish Rite Valley of Canton.
Jim will be deeply missed by his stepson, William (Kay) Hardy and stepdaughter, Mary (Roger) Cranor; cousin, Joseph (Mary Lou) Krupka; and his loving neighbors on Lori Avenue.
In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 30 years, Virginia Faye Hawksworth, stepdaughters Dale Tipton and Lola Frechette and his 3 grandsons, Thomas Finley, Darrin Hodgson and Ryan Hardy.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, December 13th from 10am to 11am at the Paquelet Funeral Home in Massillon. A funeral service will follow at 11am and burial will take place immediately following the service at Brookfield Cemetery where military rites will be rendered.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Jim’s name to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 3805.
