James "Jim" E. Long

James "Jim" E. Long, age 83, passed away on September 28, 2016. He was born on July 30, 1933. Jim was a 1951 graduate of Washington High School and a 1959 graduate of Miami University. Jim served his country in the U.S. Army for 2 years. He worked at Republic Steel for 12 years and Jenkins and Hammersmith Insurance for 27 years, retiring in 1998. Jim was an avid motorcycle rider, traveling throughout the United States, Canada, Alaska and the Alps. He was a member of Grace United Church of Christ for 68 years and a member of the Massillon Lions Club. Jim is survived by his companion of 33 years Blanche Marsh; his daughters Jenny Krase and Joan Leppla; 5 grandchildren; 1 great-granddaughter; his brother and sister-in-law Robert and Mary Lou Long; his nephew Stephen (Denise) Long; his ex-wife Jan Penley; his 7 cats and a host of friends. In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his grandson Connor Krase.
