James J. Howenstine, 79 of North Canton, passed away peacefully with family by his side. He was born in Canton, Ohio July 13, 1937 to Jay C. and Esther (Farber) Howenstine. Retired from The Timken Company after 32 years of service as a General Supervisor. Jim was a 1955 graduate of Jackson High School. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy. He was a 50 year member of the Clinton Lodge F. & A.M. He was a member of the Church of the Lakes for 56 years. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers Ronald and Kim Howenstine and his sister-in-law Marilyn Howenstine. Jim will be deeply missed by his wife of 55 years, Carol (Nye) Howenstine, his children, Ronald Howenstine, Kathy (Jerry) Maynard, Leigh -Ann (Carlos Miramontes) Howenstine, his brother William (Dianne) Howenstine, nephew, Trevor (Amy) Howenstine, great nephew, Joshua Evan-Dean Howenstine, niece, Heather (PT) Messick, great niece, Marissa Messick and great nephew Paul Messick. Also surviving are brother-in-law, Frederick (Shirley) Nye, nephew, Steve Nye, niece, Melissa (Jerome) Zenoby and great nephew, Gabriel Zenoby. The family will receive friends at the Paquelet & Arnold-Lynch Funeral Home on Friday from 6-8 p.m. A service to celebrate his life will take place at the Church of the Lakes United Methodist Church on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. with calling hours from 10-11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Jim’s name may be sent to the Alzheimer’s Association.
