James Friedrich

James N. Friedrich, age 72 of Massillon passed away Saturday night at his home surrounded by his family. Jim was born December 24th 1935 in Massillon to the late Joseph and Helen (Donant) Friedrich. He was preceded in death by a brother Paul V. Friedrich. He was a 1953 graduate of Central Catholic High School. He established Stark Cooling and Heating, Inc. in 1963, and remained president until his retirement in 2006. His professional achievements include past International President of Refrigeration Service Engineer Society. He was also past President of the following Massillon organizations: Rotary Club where he received the Paul Harris Fellowship Award, Chamber of Commerce, and Massillon Club. He also was a member of Shady Hollow Country Club where he served on the board of directors, K of C #554, and AmVets Post #6. He is survived by his high school sweetheart Joanne (Moore) Friedrich with whom he shared 54 years of marriage on July 3rd. They have 5 children and spouses: Cindy & Neil Maier, Joe & Wendy Friedrich, Ken & Kim Friedrich, Shari & Brian Specht, and Sandi Blogna. They have 13 grandchildren: Dr. Megan & Tim Staub, Lindsey Maier, JD & Alicia Friedrich, Amy & Uriah Heise, Shannon & Ricky Davis, Farah Friedrich, Chelsea Friedrich, Brittany Friedrich, Ethan Friedrich, Christian Specht, Brianna Specht, Kayle Blogna, and Josh Blogna; and 4 great-grandchildren: Zach & Alex Heise, Ricky & Kenadie Davis. Also surviving is his brother Rev. Ralph Friedrich and sister Rita Awkerman. A Mass of Christian burial will be 10AM Wednesday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. His brother Fr. Ralph Friedrich and his pastor will concelebrate the Mass. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call 2-4 and 6-8 PM on Tuesday at the Paquelet Funeral Home in Massillon.
