James F. Harper age 70 of Massillon passed away December 20, 2009 at the Cleveland Clinic after a courageous battle with heart disease. Jim was born March 15, 1939 in Massillon to the late Paul J. & Frances (Grosswiller) Harper. He was a 1957 graduate of Washington High School. Jim was the owner of Harper Painting for the past 34 years. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, brother and grandpa (Padae), who was totally involved with his family in all their activities, particularly sports. Jim was an avid Massillon Tiger Football fan since early childhood and enjoyed camping with his wife and family, especially sitting up late nights around the campfire. Family gatherings, playing cards and games was a personal highlight. He was a caring and loving individual, always willing to stop to help others in need. To our family, Jim will always be remembered as our “Superman”. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Kathy (Hose) Harper of the residence; four children and spouses, Kirk & Christina Harper, Shelly Harper, Dana & Brian Garrett, Tim & Brittany Harper; seven grandchildren, Graeham, Markus, Brandon, Everett, Elleson, T.J., and Addie; two sisters and a brother in law, Pauline & Louis Campbell and Shirley Harper. Friends may visit 2-5 PM, December 27, 2009 at the Paquelet Funeral Home in Massillon. Funeral Service will be 11:00 AM Monday December 28, 2009 with visitation from 10:00 AM until the time of the service at the First Baptist Church in Massillon (20 Sixth Street, SE). His pastor Dr. Roger Alber, and the Rev. Ken Killian will officiate. Burial will be at East Union Lawn Cemetery in Navarre.
