James E. Montini, 78, passed away on Sunday, June 4, 2017. He was born in Massillon on May 12, 1939 to the late Thomas and Sara (Dottavio) Montini. James was a graduate of Washington High School and a veteran of The United States Air Force. A member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Jim was a dedicated family man. He loved and cared for the love of his life, Cynthia for over 57 years. His greatest treasures were being able to support his children and grandchildren in all their pursuits. Jim was a grill master and one hell of a cook. He was happiest when his family was gathered around the kitchen table, eating, laughing and enjoying one another’s company. Jim was known for his compassionate and humorous nature. Always the jokester, Jim brought laughter to the lives of friends, family and even strangers. He volunteered with his church and the M.S. Society and enjoyed his daily workouts at the Massillon Recreation Center. Jim was truly the patriarch of his family and lived life by his own unique set of rules. Jim and his family were blessed to be together during his last moments. He is survived by his wife, Cynthia (Mallalieu) Montini, whom he married on September 2, 1960; their children, Cindy Michelle Montini, Michael James (Laura Jean) Montini and Kevin Thomas (Nadine Marie) Montini, all of Jackson Township; and six grandchildren, Brittney (#1), Blair (#2), Gina (#3), Mia (#4), Brianna (#5) and Anthony (#6). He was also preceded in death by his brother, Theodore Montini and a sister, Mary Stalder. Friends and family may call at the Paquelet Funeral Home on Friday, June 9, 2017 from 6:00pm-8:00pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday at 10:00 A.M. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Massillon with Fr. Raymond Paul officiating.
