James D. Oney

James D. Oney, 80 of Beach City, passed away Thursday, July 6, 2017. James was born on October 18, 1936 in Blue Belle, Ohio the son of Ellis and Ruth (Daw) Oney. He was a 1955 graduate of McKinley High School and a United States Marine Corp. veteran. James was a licensed optician. He owned and operated B&F Optical, acquiring the family business in 1976. James was an avid aviator. He and his son Doug spent many hours flying together. He also enjoyed fishing, hunting, mowing and spending time with his friends and family. James was a member of the Canton Baptist Temple. Along with his parents he was preceded in death by his sister, Ina Mae Headrick. He is survived by his wife, Marilyn ‘Susie’ (Holton) Oney, whom he shared 58 years of marriage; his children and their spouses, Douglas (Leisa) Oney and Terry (Dan) Singer; grandchildren, Ava Oney, Carissa (Michael) Burns and Jennifer (Jeff) Smith; and great grandchildren; Steven, Madison, and Gavin. A Celebration of James life will be held on Tuesday, July 11, 2017 at 1p.m. at the Canton Baptist Temple. Interment will follow at Dover Burial Park in Dover, Ohio. The family will receive friends at the church from 11 - 1 p.m. before the service. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Canton Baptist Temple.
