James C. Hart, age 90 of Massillon, passed away Sunday, June 15, 2008 at Aultman Hospital after a brief illness. He was born on July 28, 1917 in Massillon to the late James O. and Lucille Hart. He was a lifelong resident of Massillon. Mr. Hart graduated from Massillon Washington High School in 1937 and attended the University of Tennessee and Bowling Green State University prior to joining the US Army Air Corps where he served as a pilot during WWII. He retired from the Ohio Lottery Commission in 1989 and previously worked for David Brothers Wholesalers in Canton. He was a member of the Massillon Exchange Club and a contributor to the Salvation Army throughout his adult life. He enjoyed golf and followed the Cleveland Indians, Browns, the Ohio State Buckeyes, and his beloved Massillon Tigers. He is survived by his devoted wife of 58 years, Mona (Stout) Hart, his son, Bruce of Leesburg, VA, his daughter-in-law, Helen, of Centerville, Ohio and three grandsons; Bruce of Cincinnati, Christopher and Michael both of Dayton; two sisters, Margaret Shriber of Maui, and Geraldine Reese of Canton, his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. S. Richard Stout of Shaker Heights; three nephews, six nieces and many dear friends throughout Stark County. There will be no calling hours, with a private family memorial service to be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the Salvation Army.
