James P. “Jimmy” Birtalan, age 19, of Canton died early Thursday morning in Massillon as a result of an automobile accident. He was born June 1, 1990 in Canton to James A. Birtalan and Mary (Campbell) Birtalan. Jimmy was a 2008 graduate of Perry High School where he played on the tennis team. He was currently attending Kent State University/ Stark Campus. Jimmy was employed in sales at Red Carpet Car Wash and was a member of St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church. He loved to play the guitar and harmonica, ride his 4 wheeler, and spend time with his friends. Jimmy is survived by his parents both of Canton; brother Michael; grandparents Paul and Rose Marie Campbell of Canton; girlfriend and love of his life Brittany Kociuniba of Canton; uncles Paul Campbell of Phoenix, AZ, Joe Campbell of Woodsfield, OH, Jim (April) Campbell, and John Campbell both of East Sparta, OH; aunts Joan Campbell of East Sparta, Rosemary (Jim) Suarez of Massillon, Paula (Randy) Lovallo of Ridgefield, CT, Kathy Plomaritis of Grosse Pointe, MI, and Chrissy (Joe) Braley of Carrollton, OH; seventeen cousins and many close friends. Jimmy was preceded in death by his grandparents Lela and James Birtalan, and an aunt Theresa (Campbell) Reda. Visitation will be Sunday from 3-5 P.M. at Paquelet Funeral Home 1100 Wales Rd. NE. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday at 10:00 A.M. at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church with Father William Kraynack officiating. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
