James F. Ailing, 84, of Massillon, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, December 8, 2024. Jim was born on September 11, 1940 in Canton, Ohio, the son of the late Dwight and Mary (Rippl) Ailing.
Jim was a loving and giving person who cared for his family and gave back to his community. He graduated from Timken High School in 1958. The greater Stark County community knew Jim for his commitment to excellence as he excelled in both football and baseball. He played class A baseball in Canton, Ohio and was inducted into the Greater Canton Amateur Sport Hall of Fame.
After retiring from the Ford Motor company he remained active in the Massillon community serving as the president of the Massillon association of youth sports. He was a willing mentor and coach to many young baseball players. Jim was a family man who helped his son and daughter with many home remodeling projects over the years.
He is survived by his wife, Sandra Ailing, with whom he shared 60 years; children, Denise (Randy) A. Berger, and Jim (Kim) F. Ailing, II; grandchildren, Justin M. Ailing and Courtney M. Ailing; brother, George B. Ailing; numerous nieces and nephews.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by is brothers, Dwight F. Ailing and Russell O. Ailing.
There will be no calling hours or services. In lieu of flowers, you may contribute in his honor to a youth sports program or charity of your choice. To share a special memory with Jim's family, please sign the online guest book.
