James A Rowland

September 22, 1948 — December 4, 2020

James A. Rowland, September 22, 1948 to December 4, 2020. My father passed away at home in his bed on December 4, 2020. He was battling lung cancer and had several other health issues. The only comfort I have in this moment is knowing he is at peace. My father wasn’t a religious man, but the Daily Bread’s scripture reading for December 4, comes from 1 John 3:18, “Let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth.” Well the truth is, my father was an awesome man. He was a kind-hearted, fun loving, open minded, generous guy who was sarcastically humorous. He was very intelligent, having graduated from Washington High School and then went on to earn degrees at Ohio State University. After a time, he began working and eventually retired from Republic Steel of Massillon. He was wise, cultured, and well-rounded from many enriching life experiences. At age 19, he attended Woodstock. He had the wonderful opportunity and privilege throughout his life to do much traveling around the world and all across the US. If you knew my father, you knew he was a diehard Kansas City Chief’s fan. He was so happy he got to see them win the 2019 Super Bowl. He is preceded in death by his father, James Rowland, and his mother, Lois Rowland. Also, his younger brother, Mark Rowland who passed away in Cleveland, Ohio in 2008. He is survived by his daughter, Rachel Thomas and other relatives and many good friends. Paquelet Funeral Home of Massillon will be handling his cremation. Please keep my family, and his friends in your thoughts and prayers. To say the least, my father lived a full life. He is much loved and will be missed by many.
