James A. Baker, Sr., 82 of Perry Township, passed away on Tuesday, May 16, 2017. He was born in Antioch, Ohio on July 4, 1934 and was the son of the late Vincent and Ethel (Clark) Baker. Following high school graduation, he proudly served his country in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Germany. He then went on to work at Union Drawn, retiring after more than 30 years of service. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Carol J. Baker in 2016, two infant children, Deborah and Johnny and his siblings, Roy, Earl and Herb Baker and Alma Carpenter. Jim is survived by 5 children, Carolyn (Jimmie) Holmes, Rebecca (Todd) Gardner, Steven Baker, James A. Baker, Jr. and Beverly Baker. Also surviving are 6 grandchildren, Shaun and Nathan Holmes, Zachary and Tyler Gardner, Ryan Baker and Hunter Akey. A service to celebrate Jim’s life will take place on Saturday at 3:00 p.m. at the Paquelet Funeral Home. The family will receive friends one hour before the service.
