Jack Shaeffer age 80 of Massillon passed away Wednesday at Aultman Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer. Jack was born May 31, 1925 in Canton to the late Blaine & Mary (Smith) Shaeffer and was raised in Canton. During WW II he served in the Army in Europe and rose to the rank of Sergeant. In 1948 he started at the Canton Repository and retired as a pressman in 1987. Jack & Agnes spent their winters at Heritage Village in Vero Beach, FL. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by an infant sister and three brothers: Blaine, Bill & Don. He is survived by Wife Agnes (Kuhn) of the residence with whom he shared 58 years of marriage on May 3rd. Children & spouses John & Melanie Shaeffer of North Canton Bob & Carol Shaeffer of Navarre Judy & Scott Huth of Massillon Nine grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 AM Saturday at St. Barbara’s Catholic Church, his pastor Fr. Thomas Cebula will officiate. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call Friday from 6-8 PM at the Paquelet Funeral Home in Massillon.
