Jack L. Custer, age 72 of Jackson Township, died Thursday August 5, 2010 at Aultman Hospital following a courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Massillon on May 13, 1938 and was the son of the late Erle and Helen (Sprinkle) Custer. In 1956, he graduated from Washington High School and went on to earn his Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry at the College of Wooster. He was the retired founder of Wadsworth/ALERT Laboratories and Day Star Homes. He was involved in several community and business organizations. He will be most remembered for his generosity towards individuals and his philanthropy towards churches and international missions. He is survived by his wife, Diana (Dulaney) Custer, his sons, Bradley (Juli) Custer, Bryce (Kym Hall) Custer and Robert Custer, their mother, Priscilla Custer, his grandchildren, Eric, Jacquelyn, Aaron, Abigail, Emily and Victoria. Also surviving are his brother Gene Custer and his sister Patricia (Kenny) Blim. A service to celebrate his life will take place on Tuesday, August 10th at 10:00 A.M. at the Paquelet & Arnold-Lynch Funeral Home in Massillon with Rev. Clifford Price officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday from 6-8 P.M. Those who wish may sign the guestbook at arnoldlynch.com.
