Jack L. Gibbons, age 75, of Massillon passed away Friday morning April 9, 2010 at Affinity Hospital in Massillon, Ohio after a short illness. He was born in Jerusalem, Ohio on April 26, 1934, the son of the late Bernice and Lawson Gibbons. His family moved to Massillon where he was a graduate of Massillon Washington High School, Class of 1951. He was a veteran of the United States Army serving with the 538th Engineering Battalion at Ft. Knox, Kentucky. He was a long time employee and retired from the Babcock and Wilcox Company, Power Generation Division in Barberton, Ohio. He is survived by his wife of 54 years Diane (Diotale) and sons Cary of Massillon, and Steve of Uniontown. Also surviving are his brothers Lawson Jr. of Canton and Donald (Gloria) of Columbus, and many nephews. Jack was a private pilot who flew out of Skypark Airfield in Wadsworth for many years. He was an avid golfer who enjoyed playing in Stark County Senior events and with his friends in the Babcock and Wilcox Thursday golf group. He was a longtime fan of Massillon Tiger Football who seldom missed a home game. Jack was a good and decent man who loved his wife Diane and provided a wonderful life for her and their two sons. Visitation will be Monday from 11 A.M. until 1:00 P.M. followed by funeral services at 1:00 P.M. at the Paquelet Funeral Home 1100 Wales Rd. NE., Massillon. Dr. W. Darrell Holmes will officiate.
