Ivan J. Wilhelm, age 87 of Massillon, passed away Sunday morning. He was born in Massillon on June 2nd, 1917 to the late Albert & Caroline (Koehn) Wilhelm. He worked for Republic Steel Corp., Enduro Division. He was a loyal employee of Republic Steel where he retired after 40 yrs. He went to the Army & served 4 yrs. in WWII, which includes the Battle of the Bulge where he received 1 of 2 Purple Hearts for his bravery. Several years after returning from the war, Ivan married his wife of 53 yrs. After Ivan retired, he had the time to listen to the music in his collection, and the concerts in downtown Massillon. When not listening to music, he enjoyed traveling, dancing, gardening, and especially flowers. Ivan was also an avid baker. He was a member of St. Mary’s, and the Eagles Aerie No. 190. He is preceded in death by his parents, wife, Mary Louise (Kaufman) Wilhelm in 2001, and a brother Clifford Wilhelm. Survived by: 2 sons Gary & Joyce Wilhelm of Massillon Marion & Bonnie Wilhelm of Magnolia daughter Cheryl & Ronnie Wendell of Perry 3 Grandchildren 1 Great Grandson 1 dog “Cocoa” A Mass of Christian burial will take place on Wednesday at 1 P.M. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Friends may call on Tuesday from 6 – 8 P.M. at the Paquelet Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Stark Co. Humane Society, 5100 Peach St. NE, Louisville, OH 44641
