Irene Bucci

Irene Bucci, age 96 passed away on October 06, 2013. She was born in Massillon on August 03, 1917 to the late Joseph and Lila Bursey. She was a 1935 graduate of Washington High School. She married Albert J. Bucci on June 10, 1939 and they spent 67 wonderful years together until his passing on October 10, 2006. She was a devout and longtime parishioner at St. Joseph's and St. Barbara's Parish's. She had a devotion to Jesus, The Blessed Mother and St. Therese – The Little Flower. Irene was a loving, genuine and caring person and it showed through her encouraging letters and phone calls to family and friends. Many people thought that she was a downright "cutie-pie". She will forever be remembered as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. Irene worked as a switchboard operator at Ohio Bell, was an assistant cook at St. Joseph School and a secretary at Reliable Heating. She was the first president of The Christian Mothers at St. Josephs, as well as a member of the Altar and Rosary Society, a member of the parish council at St. Barbara's and a commissioned chairman through the Ladies Guild for visiting the sick and the homebound. Irene was a diehard Euchre player and loved to win! She also enjoyed spending time in Amish Country, cooking for all of Nip's friends and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She leaves to cherish her memory her children; Philip (Patti) Bucci, Judy Wellin, and David (Nancy) Bucci ; her grandchildren Philip Jr. (Molly) Bucci , Christina Bucci, Jeffrey (Diane) Kiko, Lisa Sadeghian, Mike (Shannon)Wellin, Scott (Kelly) Wellin, Jacqueline (Mark) Gay, and Samuel Bucci; her great-grandchildren Miles, Graham, Emma, Ben, Xavier, Ana, Amy, Katie, Anna, Luke, Brittney, Jacob, and Sierra. In addition to her parents and husband, Irene is preceded in death by 3 sisters and 2 brothers. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Barbara's Catholic Church on Thursday, October 10, 2013 at 10 A.M. Fr. Thomas Cebula officiating. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 P.M. on Wednesday, October 9, 2013 at the Paquelet Funeral Home. Burial will be at Sunset Hills Memory Gardens.
