Imogene M. "Jean" Shaffer

Imogene Margaret "Jean" Shaffer, R.N., 89, passed away peacefully on December 14, 2014, surrounded by her loving family, two days before her 90th birthday. She was born in North Canton on December 16, 1924, to the late Matilda(Lauffer) and Dale Allen. Jean graduated from McKinley High School in 1942 and from Mercy Hospital School of Nursing in 1945. She was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Robert, in 1999, and a son Robert, Jr. "Mike" in 2011, and by brothers George, Arward and Dale Allen. She is survived by her children, David (Susan) Shaffer of Navarre, Diane Shaffer of Canton and Mary (Chris) Kreiling of Massillon; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and two on the way; and one great-great-grandchild with one on the way; and a sister, Maggie Witmer. Jean was a member of Saint Joan of Arc Catholic Church and the Rosary Altar Society and N.A.R.F.E. Friends and family may call at the Paquelet Funeral Home on Tuesday, December 16, 2014 from 5:00PM -8:00PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Saint Joan of Arc Catholic Church on Wednesday, December 17, 2014 at 10:00AM, Fr. David Weikart, Celebrant. Entombment will be in North Lawn Cemetery, North Canton.
