Ida M. Hunt, age 90, of Akron, formerly of Massillon, passed away Wednesday, April 10, 2013 at Rockynol Retirement Community in Akron. Ida was born on December 11, 1922 in Massillon, the daughter of S. D. and Mary (Saba) Shannon. Ida was a lifelong resident of the area. She was a former Lady Elks member. Ida worked with her husband in the ownership and operation of Shook's Aluminum Products from 1974 to 1985, and she was formerly a legal secretary. She was also a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church and most recently a member of St. Hilary Catholic Church in Fairlawn. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert C. Hunt in 1989, her daughter Paula Morris, her son Timothy Hunt, her sister Rose Elum and brothers William and David Shannon. She is survived by her children and their spouses: Robert C. (Mary) Hunt, and David A. (Laura) Hunt; seven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren; her brothers, Richard and Philip Shannon. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, April 13, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Massillon. Fr. Raymond Paul of St. Joseph Catholic Church will be officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens. According to Ida's wishes, there will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Staff Appreciation Fund at Rockynol Retirement Community in Ida's name: 1150 West Market Street, Akron, OH 44333.
