Howard "Butch" L. Letcher, age 78 of Massillon passed away on Friday, December 02, 2016. He was born in Sharon, Pennsylvania on June 12, 1938 to the late Howard and June (DeMay) Letcher. He was a 1957 graduate of Washington High School. He married Patricia A. Peterson on July 14, 1962 and they shared 45 years together until her passing in 2007. He was blessed with love a second time when he married Sheila A. Beichler on September 15, 2013 and she survives him. Butch proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy on board USS Storms. He worked at Timken for 30 years until his retirement. One of his passions as "Big Daddy Wheel" driving the Engine Truck and serving as a longtime member of the Perry Twp. Volunteer Fire Department. Butch was an avid story teller sharing in words and pictures with anyone that would listen, the experiences in his life. He was a diehard Bowler at Federal Lanes in Massillon and Classic Bowl in Canton; enjoyed traveling to Florida spending a lot of time at Disney World. Butch was a person that gave of himself as a foster parent and still has pictures of the kids he took care of in years past. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife Sheila; his son Howard L. Letcher III; his stepchildren Connie (Dave) Urbano, and Tammy (Bill) Nicholson; his daughter-in-law Heather Beichler; his grandchildren Nicole, William, Chelsea, James, Addy, Ryleigh, Caden, Sarah(Bob), Micheal, Shawn and Michelle (Michael); his great-grandchildren Natalie, Olivia, Maddox, Haley, Samantha, McKenzie Jorge, Jose, James, Gio and most importantly of all his faithful feline companion Boots. In addition to his parents Howard was preceded in death by his first wife Patricia A. Letcher; his daughter Roberta Sue Letcher; and his stepson Robert A. Beichler. A Celebration of his life will be held on Tuesday, December 06, 2016 at 11a.m. at the Paquelet Funeral Home in Massillon. Pastor Ken Morrison of New Hope Chapel will be officiating. The family will receive friends from 6-8p.m. on Monday, December 05, 2016 and 1 hour prior to the service. There will be a Fire Fighter Last Call at 7:30p.m on Monday night.
