Homer F. Wentzel

Homer F. Wentzel, age 87 of Massillon, died on Wednesday, March 30, 2011 at Affinity Medical Center. He was born on February 29, 1924 in Massillon and was the son of the late Homer and Ruth (Bachtel) Wentzel. Homer served in the U.S. Navy in Korea during World War II. He worked as a superintendent for the U.S. Post Office . Along with his parents, Homer was preceded in death by his daughter, Jane Evon Wentzel, his brothers, Morris Wentzel and Kenneth Wentzel and his sister Evelyn Kessel. He is survived by his wife, Geraldine E. (Maier) Wentzel, whom he married on March 20, 1947, his brother James (Mary Lou) Wentzel, his sisters, Patricia (Jack) DeMarsh, Geraldine Daniels and Sr. Eileen Wentzel and several nieces and nephews. A service will take place at the chapel at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens on Tuesday at 11:00 A.M. with Rev. Larry Lalama officiating. The family will receive friends at the chapel from 10:30 – 11:00 A.M. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to the American Diabetes Association or the donor’s favorite charity.
