Herman F. Lonas, a life-long resident of Massillon, died on April 18, 2017 at the age of 89. Herman who was preceded in death by his parents Florence and John Lonas was a 1946 graduate of Washington High School, a Korean War Marine Veteran, co-owner of Herm and Ray's Service Stations, a 50+ year member of the Masonic Lodge, a life member of the Amvets and the Elks, and a member of the Eagles and VFW. Additionally, he was an award winning chili maker. He died with the love of his life in his arms and family by his side after a brief period of declining health. He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Doris (Hindley) Lonas, two daughters and son in laws; Sheila and Jeff Stockert, Pippa and George Milburn, sister; Betty Indorf, Grandchildren; Acacia (Kenny) Hixson, Gabrielle (Brian) Arnold, John (Tara) Stockert, Kellie (Robert) Waltz, Katelyn (Preston) Smith, Audrey Milburn, Great grandchildren; Ethan, Oliver, Darius, Christian, Addalyn, Hattie Claire, Micah, Harrison, and Everett, numerous nieces and nephews. Services will be held on Saturday, April 22 at 12 pm with calling hours beginning at 11 am at St. Johns United Church of Christ 101 Tremont Ave SE Massillon, OH. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made in Herman's name to Community Hospice Truman House, 716 Commercial Avenue SW, New Philadelphia, OH 44663.
