Herman Burdie F. Burd age 74 of Massillon, passed away Sunday at Aultman Hospital following a brief illness. Burdie was born on October 30, 1931 in Little Washington, Pa to the late David and Lauretta (Beall) Burd and lived most of his life in Massillon. He retired from Republic Steel in March 1984 as a tractor driver following 34 years of service. Burdie enjoyed motorcycle riding, bowling and golfing. He is survived by his wife with whom he would have celebrated 44 years of marriage on June 2, 2006, Dorothy J. (Kapaldo), sons and daughters-in-law; Herman F. (Brenda) Burd, Jr. of Bellevue, OH, David Teter of Massillon, Robert Teter of North Lawrence, Ted Burd of Bellevue, Alan and Pamela Teter of Massillon, Dan and Gari of Massillon, daughters and son-in-law; Jacqueline and Randy Tucker of Navarre, Deborah and Rex Poling of New Orleans, LA, brother Raymond Burd and a sister Eva Hoff both of Phoenix, AZ, 10 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren and several nephews and nieces. Funeral services celebrating Herman's life will be held Thursday at 2:00 PM at the Arnold- Lynch Funeral Home with the Rev. Edd Matako officiating. Calling hours will be Wednesday 5-8 PM and one hour prior to the services on Thursday. Interment will take place at Brookfield Cemetery.
