Herbert Staples age 87 of Massillon passed away November 9, 2009 at Affinity Medical Center after a brief illness. He was born July 19, 1922 in Wadley, AL to the late Frank & Bernice (Hill) Staples. He attended Dover Schools. Herbie was employed by both Grays Drug Store and the Eaton Mfg. for over 32 years. He served as a paratrooper in WW II. He was preceded in death by his wife Sallie Staples in 2002, brothers Albert, Robert and Carl Staples; and two sisters, Marquerite Johnson and Greta Hawkins. He leaves to cherish his memory five children: Michael (Brenda) Staples and Bonnie Staples all of Georgia; Damon Staples, Renee Lakey and Cheryl Martin all of Massillon; a sister Mary (Robert) Morrison and a brother Delaurel (Laree) Staples. Grandchildren: Michael Staples II, Stephanie Staples, Syreeta Staples, Sophia (Claude) Brown, Sharylann (Orlando) Staples-Hudson, Clarice (James) McGuire, Nicole Martin, Quiana Gulley, Tamia Gulley and William Martin and 23 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren. Two sister in-laws: Audrey Snowden and Kernola Arnold; a very special friend Clyde Mitchell. There are many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. A Home-Going Celebration of Herbert Staples life will be 11 AM Saturday at the Paquelet Funeral Home, Elder Gerald Evans will officiate. Burial will be at Massillon Cemetery.
