Herbert F. Klever, 76, of North Lawrence, passed away on Saturday, November 18, 2023. Born in Massillon, Ohio, on December 28, 1946, the son of the late Herbert and Helen Klever. He was an extraordinary welder, working for Babcock and Wilcox for 32 years until he retired. Herb was a Harley-Davidson enthusiast and a member of the PakRats MC, where he was known as “The Wizard”. Herb loved the outdoors, mushroom hunting, fishing, hunting with his coon dogs, and flying kites were some of his favorite hobbies. Herb also enjoyed the adrenaline rush of finding a good bargain at yard sales or thrift shops.
Herb was quick witted, always prepared with a spicy one-liner or an off the wall joke, wherever he was, you would always find laughter. He loved his family and friends spending a lot of time hanging out with them around a fire, kitchen table or a swap meet.
He is survived by his son, Jerry Klever; grandchildren, Cory, Eric, Ian, and Olivia Klever; great-grandchildren, Camden, Kaiden, Carter and Callen; and many nieces and nephews. As sad as it is to say goodbye to Herb, we take solace in knowing he is with his parents, and his sisters, Joan Flickinger, Polly Butzer, and Charlene “Hap” Gessling.
To quote Herb’s favorite line over the past several years “Getting old isn’t for sissies.”
His body may have gotten old, but his heart and soul were full of love and life and we will feel the loss of Herb forever.
Per Herb’s wishes, cremation will take place. There will be no calling hours or service. A true party animal to the end, he simply wanted his friends and family to gather for a Celebration in his honor, which will be held at a later date.
