Henry Joiner, the youngest child of Troy and Ada (Lancaster) Joiner, was born on November 16, 1928, in Woodland, Alabama (Randolph County). During the Great Migration, Troy and Ada moved the Joiner family to Massillon, Ohio (Stark County), where Henry lived the remainder of his life. Henry entered into his restful sleep on Wednesday, October, 4, 2017, at 11 A.M. Henry attended Stark County Public Schools in his formative years. After graduating from Washington High School in 1948, Henry attended Kent State University, studying accounting from 1948-1950. After 33 years of service, Henry retired from the Massillon City Schools; and also retired as a Licensed Tax Consultant after 45 years of service. He was an active member of St. James AME Zion Church; and served as a Trustee on the Board of Trustees for over 50 years. Henry gave back to his community in many ways, one of which was through his service as a Master Mason of the Prince Hall Affiliated Masonic Grand Lodge, Hiram Abiff Lodge #72, Canton, Ohio and St. Luke Chapter #33, Royal Arch Mason, Canton, Ohio. Henry, like many of his contemporaries, eventually became acquainted with love of memories. Now, he too will enrich our memories. Henry was preceded in death by his parents; brother, David "Buster" Joiner; sisters: Eunice (Joiner) Johnson-Fouse; Pearl (Joiner) Gillom; and Lilian (Joiner) Johnson. To carry on his legacy and memory, Henry leaves his devoted wife of 67 years, Lucille (Jones) Joiner; son, David Joiner; son, Gregory Joiner; daughter, Patricia (Joiner) Howard; son, Drake Joiner; and daughter, Lynne Joiner (Martin); two grandsons, Cory Martin and Craig Martin; one sister Eulette (Joiner) Arrington; a large and loving family of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and parishioners, to include friends and neighbors within the local community.
