Helen Viola Humphrey, age 92, received her crown on February 23, 2019. She was born on July 12, 1926 in Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania, to the late Walter and Josebell Laney. Helen was a true born again Christian who devoted her life to the service of the Lord. She was a member of Breath of Life Tabernacle, a worshipper, and an intercessor, who strongly believed in the power of prayer. Helen was also a professional organist for over 70 years. Her amazing talent and love for music allowed her to be a world traveler. She visited places such as Paris, Italy and Israel playing music at many events. In addition to her music skills, she was also an accomplished singer, songwriter and became a published author at the age of 83, writing a book called ‘An Intercessor’s Journey’. Helen was the life of the party, an excellent hostess who was full of love and always had a way of making everyone feel important and amazing. She was a wonderful wife, mother, sister and friend and left many life lessons for them all. Helen leaves to cherish her memory, her husband Douglas Humphrey; children Cassandra Davis-Lewis, Charmaine Davis, Julie Swint and Daniel Leroy Davis; step-children Joyce Hye, Darnell Humphrey and Doug Humphrey, Jr.; sisters Josephine Laney, Lois Wilder, Gloria Earley, Jean Desmond and Geraldine Williams; 15 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and friends. In addition to her parents, Helen was preceded in death by her daughters Patricia Fain and Francine Blackford and her sisters Ethel Parker, Virginia Lucas and Lessie Fisher. A Home Going Celebration will be held on Saturday, March 2, 2019 at 12 p.m. at True Vine Revival Center, 1618 Navarre Rd, Canton Ohio 44706. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until the time of the service. Helen’s final place of rest will be at Brookfield Cemetery in Massillon following the service.
