Helen Smith, 90, of Massillon passed away peacefully at home on Monday, October 16, 2023, surrounded by her loving family.
Helen was born to the late Vasillios W. and Katherine (Pajack) Moulos on January 27, 1933, and was a graduate of Washington High School.
She was adored by her family and had a gift of making people feel special and loved which she did every day. She was affectionately known as “Yia Yia”, not only by her grandchildren, but by so many people who loved her. Her faith was very strong and she loved the Lord dearly.
Helen was preceded in death by her loving husband and best friend, James A. Smith. They were married on September 27, 1959. Their love was truly special, and it is a comfort to know they are together again.
Besides her husband and parents, Helen was preceded in death by her brothers, John, William, and Gust Moulos.
She is survived by her daughters, Lisa (Scott) Chovan and Jennifer (Mark) Reichlin; six granddaughters, Leyna (Carl) Carlson, Alyssa (Oliver) Dickerhoof, Ingrid (Tyler) Murphy, Jamie Chovan, Ariana Chovan, and Analiese Reichlin; great-grandchildren, Oliver Dickerhoof and Lilah Dickerhoof; her brother, Frank (Jan) Moulos; sister-in-law, Shirley Moulos; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends and family will gather at the at the Paquelet Funeral Home, Massillon on Wednesday, October 25, 2023, from 9:00am-10;30am, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated by The Very Rev. Fr. John Sheridan at 11:00am in Divine Mercy Parish (St. Mary’s), burial will follow at Massillon Cemetery.
