Helen M. Shertzer, age 99 of Massillon, died on Thursday, July 28, 2011 at Mercy Medical Center following a brief illness. She was born in Massillon on September 24, 1911 and was the daughter of the late John and Anna (Schwartz) Griesheimer. Helen worked at Massillon Rubber for 11 years, and retired from Eaton Corporation after 26 years of service. She was the oldest member of Faith Community Fellowship. Helen was a devout Cleveland Indians fan and she enjoyed camping, playing cards with her friends, and spending time with her family. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her son-in-law, Frank R. Bennett, 4 sisters and 6 brothers. She is survived by her daughters, Jacqueline K. Bennett and Joy (James) Kraus all of Massillon, her grandchildren, Jody (Chad) DeBos, Joanne (Brendan) Kasunick and Jennifer (Matthew) Bausch and her great grandchildren, Cody and Hannah DeBos and Anna, Andrew and Joshua Kasunick. A service to celebrate Helen’s life will take place on Monday, August 1, 2011 at 11:00 A.M. at the Paquelet & Arnold-Lynch Funeral Home with Rev. David Kimberly officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 5-7 P.M. and one hour prior to the service on Monday.
