Helen will be remembered first and foremost for her deep love of family. Although never married, she had more offspring than most parents; 164 nieces, nephews and their children at last count. She worked very hard to keep the ever-expanding family contact list updated, and was the tireless connector between the generations of the David family. There are so many Aunt Helen stories to share that describe the unique and beloved woman who was our 'Helen'. Helen's abiding passion was sports, especially, football. She was an avid fan of the Massillon Tigers in her younger years. She admired Paul Brown, and became a close friend of Mary Brown. Although Helen loved the Cleveland Browns, she eventually abandoned them for the Cincinnati Bengals and was sorely disappointed when they did not make it to the Super Bowl this year. She attended 16 Super Bowls including one at the age of 76 within months of undergoing a double knee replacement. She died on Super Bowl Sunday, which would have been her 17th. She watched the game from her heavenly loge on the 50-yard line. Helen was the office manager at the family-owned David Brothers Wholesale Company for over 25 years, and worked in a trusted capacity at Camelot Music for 19 years. She treasured working with her family, but her favorite job was a volunteer position as office manager at the former Canal Fulton Summer Theatre, where she met and hobnobbed with stars in the theatrical world she so dearly loved. She traveled the world, bringing back many photos and mementos. Helen was a passionate photographer at family weddings, showers, baptisms, and other events; she spent a great deal of her declining weeks dispersing these gems to her whole family. Helen belonged to both St. Michael's and St. Joseph Catholic Churches. Her faith, so deep, yet childlike, was an inspiration to all who knew and loved her. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 AM Thursday February 9, 2006 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Massillon. The Mass will be concelebrated by Fr. Raymond Paul, her brother Fr. Joseph David and others. Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery. Friends may call Wednesday from 4 until 8:30 P.M., with a Ghinnaz (Maronite) Service at 8 P.M. Helen gave generously to a multitude of charities during her lifetime. At her request in lieu of donations, flowers may be sent to Paquelet Funeral Home.
