Helen L. Klever, age 87, of North Lawrence who was a devoted mother and grandmother, passed away Monday evening at her residence. She was born on June 2, 1919 in Massillon to the late Frederick and Mabel Shilling. Helen retired from Crown Steel in Orrville following 32 years of service. She was a volunteer for the North Lawrence Fire Department for over 50 years and was a member of the of the fire department’s Women’s Auxiliary and Faith United Methodist Church in North Lawrence. She enjoyed gardening, riding her golf cart and working the BINGO food stand for the last 45 years. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Herbert Klever (October 16, 2002), daughters, Joan Flickinger (January 1, 2003), Polly L. Butzer (January 29, 2006), grandson, Ritchie Flickinger, brother, Maurice Shilling and a sister Alma F. Buchs. Helen is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Charlene (Hap) and Tom Gessling of Dalton, and son and daughter-in-law, Herb F. and Jill Klever of North Lawrence; brother, Frederick “Dude” Shilling of Massillon, 7 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. Funeral services celebrating Helen’s life will be held Friday at 1:00 PM at the Arnold-Lynch Funeral Home in Massillon with Rev. Harry and Rev Mary Lou Merryman officiating. Family will receive friends Thursday from 6:00 – 8:00 PM and one hour prior to the services. Interment will follow the services at Newman Creek Cemetery.
