Helen L Hockenberry

Helen Louise Hockenberry (nee Geis), age 92 of Massillon passed away on Thursday, August 19, 2021. She was born in Massillon, Ohio on August 13, 1929 to the late Walter and Gladys (Rhinehart-Webb) Geis. She was a graduate of Massillon Washington High School. She married Robert Hockenberry and they shared almost 70 years together. Helen worked at Peoples Federal Savings & Loan. She enjoyed traveling the United States and visiting with family. She was a long-time member of St. John’s United Church of Christ and an active member of the Massillon Women’s Club. Helen enjoyed sewing, cooking (Fresh vegetables from Bob’s Garden) and crafting. She will forever be remembered as a compassionate, generous, kind and loving person. Helen leaves to cherish her memory her husband Robert “Bob”; her nieces Cynthia (Stan) Kuran, Susan (Richard) Kirkhart and Linda (Jack) Crawford as well as a host of grand nieces and nephews and friends. In addition to her parents, Helen was preceded in death by her sisters Ruth Moses and Dian Brinker; her brothers William and Charles Geis, her faithful canine companions Chipper, Mitzi and Marci. In accordance with her wishes, cremation has taken place and services are pending. Donations in Helen’s memory can be made to the Massillon Women’s Club or a charity of one’s choice.
