Helen "Joann" Eckroad

Helen “JoAnn” Eckroad, 93, passed away on Thursday, May 12, 2022 in Massillon, Ohio. JoAnn was born on February 26, 1929 to Russell Doll Sr. and Helen (Fenstermaker) Doll-Forrest. JoAnn was a 1947 graduate of Massillon Washington High School. She married Warren T. Eckroad Jr., on October 20, 1951, and they shared 66 years of marriage until his passing in 2017. JoAnn enjoyed warm sunny days on her deck, watching birds, playing cards, drinking coffee, and gathering with family and friends in her gazebo. JoAnn was blessed with special neighbors; Carolyn and Dave, Pam and Bill, Donna and Dana, Judy, and Andy. She is survived by Daughter, Jo Ellen Eckroad, Daughter, Jill (Jerry Jr.) Hartmann, Daughter, Joan (Brian) Galant; Grandsons, Jared Hartmann and Matthew (Jordan) Hartmann, Granddaughters, Alyssa (Fiancé’ Erik Indorf) Galant and Alina Galant; her brother-in-law, James Krichbaum and her brother-in-law and sister-in-law James and Karen Hamilton and a host of nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, JoAnn was preceded in death by Brothers, Russell Jr., Veryl and William Doll, Sisters, Phyllis Bossart and Janet Snyder. At JoAnn’s request, her body has been cremated. A Celebration of JoAnn’s life will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, May 19, 2022 at Sixteen St. John’s Church – 1588 Manchester Ave. SW, North Lawrence, Ohio 44666. Pastor Tom Hough will be officiating. The family will receive friends at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.
