Helen Eckstein

Helen Eckstein, 90 of Massillon, passed away on Tuesday, December 10, 2013 following an extended illness. She was born in Massillon on October 20, 1923 to the late Lawrence and Terez (Gurdin) Kovats. Helen was a graduate of Washington High School, Class of 1941. She worked at Briner's Drug's and then Marc's until her retirement in 2003. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Over The Hill Gang and was a Cleveland Indians Fan. She was devoted to her family. Helen is survived by her children Colette Eckstein of Massillon, Elaine (Ronald) McElhaney of Massillon, Lawrence (Helen) Eckstein of Tuscarawas Twp., Donald Eckstein of Chandler, AZ, Kenneth (Sue) Eckstein of Ypsilanti, MI and Richard Eckstein of TN; nine grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and three step-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Donald P. Eckstein; sisters Margaret Murdock and Therese Fabian; and brother Lawrence Kovats. Friends may call at the Paquelet Funeral Home on Friday, December 13, 2013 from 6:00PM-8:00PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Joseph Catholic Church on Saturday, December 14, 2013 at 11:00AM, Fr. Raymond Paul, Celebrant. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery.
