Heiderose Simpson, age 65 of Massillon, passed away Wednesday, June 17, 2009 at Mercy Medical Center following an extended illness. She was born to the late Franz and Marta Hildegard Knodel Steppat on December 21, 1943 in Pforzheim Germany. Heide lived in the Canton/Massillon area since arriving from Germany in 1979. She was an avid football fan rooting for the Browns through both trial and triumph. Heide also enjoyed the computer, sewing, knitting, and adored her cats. She was an engaging and interesting conversationalist. Heide had informed opinions and could debate any topic, as she was a devoted follower of the news and current events. Her character, sense of humor and accent were enjoyed by all, especially her grandchildren. Along with her parents, Heiderose was preceded in death by her husband Thomas L Simpson in 1995. Heiderose is survived by her children, Shirley Simpson of Canton, Susan (Sonny) Salter of Massillon, Jennifer Cecchini of Massillon (Gaetano Cecchini of Canton) and Michael Simpson (Dr. Nicole) of Wisconsin; her grandchildren, Jacquelynn, Rebecca (Cory), Michael (Amber), Jordan, Nicholas, Natalie, Alessandro, Anthony, Alexandra, Madison, Aiden and Isabella; her great-grandchildren, Macenzi, Ethan and Thomas; her brother Eckard Knodel of Germany. A Memorial Service to celebrate Heiderose’s life will be held on Wednesday, June 24, 2009 at 2:00 P.M. at the Paquelet Funeral Home. Inurnment will follow at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens.
