Hazel Anna Benson

Hazel Anna Benson, age 86, of Massillon passed away September 5, 2007 at the Akron General Hospital. She was born in Dalton on April 17, 1921 to the late Albert & Anna (Vongunten) Hofstetter. Hazel was a graduate of Dalton High School Class of 1940. Hazel married the late Orin Dale Benson on December 24, 1943. After Orin went to serve in WWII, Hazel went to work for the Eaton Corp. Orin returned home from the war and they began a family, in which Hazel took great pride and joy in raising. Hazel was a member of the Jehovah’s Witnesses, Kingdom Hall West Unit, Massillon. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband; 3 sisters, Gladys Boss, Ellen Weible & Mildred King; 3 brothers, Vernon Hofstetter, Dennis Hofstetter, Byron Hofstetter. She is survived by a daughter, Michelle & Ken Woods of Massillon; son, Mark & Karen Benson of Massillon; sister, Nellie Wirth of Wooster; 4 grandchildren, Rylie Woods of Massillon, Cali & Brandon Turley of Massillon, Jayme Benson of Florida, Toby & Courtney Benson of Massillon; 3 great grandchildren, Malia Turley, Reece Turley, Amiah Turley; sister-in-law, Gladys Ault of Marshallville and a dear friend, Dorothy Vezmar of Massillon. There will be a memorial service on Saturday, September 8, 2007 at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 2177 Nave Rd. S.E. Massillon. The family will receive friends from 2-3 P.M. with the memorial service starting at 3 P.M. Officiating will be Daniel Dildine. Interment will be in Sunset Hills Burial Park.
