Harvey “Carl” Witter Jr., 63 of Massillon, passed away Friday, June 5, 2009 at his residence. He was born on April 5, 1946 in Canton the son of the late Harvey C. and Bessie Witter. Harvey was a U.S. veteran for 8 years and served in the Navy on the U.S.S. Cochran during Vietnam. He worked as a electronic technician for Elum Music for 20 years until retiring in 2007. Harvey was a member of the American Legion Post #221, V.F.W. Post #3124 and Massillon Eagles #190. He enjoyed music, camping, fishing, and cooking. Along with his parents he was preceded in death by his brother Sonny Witter. He is survived by his wife Dixie (Airhart) Witter; his children, Deborah Goodman of Lubbock, TX, Caryn Sanchez of UT; his step-daughter Tami (Mark) Hawkins of Massillon; nine grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren; his brother, David (Nina) Witter of N. Canton and his sister, Shirley (Ray) Neice of Waynesburg and many nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held on Monday, June 8, 2009 at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens at 1:00 P.M.,with the presence of the American Legion Honor Guard. There will be no calling hours.
