Harrison L. Phillips

Harrison L. Phillips Jr, 82, went home to be with the Lord after a lengthy stay at The Laurels of Massillon on September 11, 2020. He was born on February 7, 1938 in Brickeys, AR to Harrison L. and Gertha (Pierce) Phillips Sr and raised by Elizabeth “Aunt Baby” Long Harrison graduated from Washington High School and retired from Builders Wholesale. He loved to shoot pool and enjoyed carpentry and painting. He is survived by his children, Sheila (Idris) McGhee, Rev. Joyce Phillips, Jackie (Leon) Carter, Rev. Gaylin (Joshua) Johnson, Sylvia Phillips and Christa Smart; 17 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandson; a brother, Chuckie Long; sister-in-law, Ann Lightfoot; and a host of other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by two children, Jeffery Phillips and Valerie Phillips; three brothers, Raleigh Lightfoot, Elijah Lightfoot and Nathaniel “Bo” Richardson; and a sister, Janet Walker. Family will receive friends on Friday, September 18, 2020 from 10am-11am at the Paquelet Funeral Home with a Home Going Celebration to be held at 11am, Rev. Gaylin Johnson, officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery.
