Harriet A. Bartholomew, age 79 of Massillon, passed away Tuesday, September 1, 2009, at her residence with her children at her side. Harriet was born April 28, 1930 in Massillon to the late Edward W. & Harriet I. (Webster) Rowlands. She was a 1948 graduate of Washington High School and received a Bachelors of Education from Kent State University in 1952. For 19 years she was employed by the Massillon Board of Education, teaching at Brookfield, Gorrell and Lorin Andrews. She was a lifetime member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Massillon and Ohio Education Associations. Harriet served on the boards of West Stark Family Services and Spring Hill Historic Home where she was also a tour guide. Harriet had a wonderful sense of humor and a quick wit. Grammie would constantly express her love for her family. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Judge John D. Bartholomew (1987); sister, Shirley Schilling; two brothers, Edward ‘Woody’ & David Rowlands. Harriet is survived by her two loving children, Lori A. Myer and John D. Bartholomew, Jr.; grandchildren, Tyler & Haley Myer all of Massillon and her canine companion, ‘Maggie’. Her funeral service will be at 11 AM Saturday at the Paquelet Funeral Home in Massillon. Her pastor, Mark Oster will officiate. Burial will be at Union Lawn Cemetery in Navarre. Friends are invited to call Friday from 6-8 PM and from 10 AM until the service Saturday at the funeral home.
