Harold A. Peffer, 54 of Massillon, passed away unexpectedly following a lengthy illness. Harold was born on May 5, 1961 in Canton, the son of Harold E. and Justine (Kossack) Peffer. Harold was a lifelong resident of the area and a 1979 graduate of GlenOak High School. Harold worked for the U.S. Postal Service at the Akron Main Post Office, where he served as Transportation Manager. He was employed by the U.S.P.S. for nearly 30 years. Harold was a beloved coach of numerous soccer and basketball teams, and took great pride in coaching his three children. Harold was an avid sports fan, especially of the Cleveland Cavaliers. His family and extended family reveled in the many family gatherings, vacations and celebrations. He took great pride and passion in organizing and saving for these events. Harold was a member of Basilica of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. He was preceded in death by his mother Justine Peffer and his infant brother Gregory Peffer. He is survived by his wife, Katherine L. (Cowles) Peffer, whom he married on August 26, 1989; children Marcus, Eric and Kristen Peffer; grandson Elias; father Harold E. Peffer; sister Cynthia (Michael) Winick; brother David (Sandra) Peffer; in laws and numerous nieces and nephews. The family would like to extend their gratitude to Dr. Marcos DeLima and his team at Seidman Cancer Center. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, March 1, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at Basilica of St. John the Baptist Church, The Very Rev. Ronald M. Klingler, Officiating. The family will receive friends at Paquelet Funeral Home on Monday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Due to the length of Harold's illness and the extensive treatments in lieu of flowers, the Harold A.
