Hampton Charles Davis

Hampton Davis passed away July 17, 2017 after battling a lengthy illness. Hampton was born in Massillon on June 12, 1928 to Fred and Eva Davis. He was married for 62 years to wife Eileen who passed away in 2011. Hampton was preceded in death by his sister Helen Houck, and brothers Harold, Don, Dale, and Bill. He is survived by brother Harry Lee Davis (Margaret), daughter Debra (Tom) Scheetz, sons Randy (Karen) Davis and Bill (Tracy) Davis. He had 7 grandchildren, Katie, Megan, Mallory, Emily, Molly, Corrinne and Garett; and 8 great-children, Benjamin, Peyton, Riley, Elly, Adley, Logyn, Teagan, and Brennan. Hampton was a graduate of Washington High School. He served in the United States Navy after WWII in the South Pacific. He also served as a City of Massillon policeman for many years. Hamtpon retired from Oakes Construction in 1991. Hampton enjoyed his family and travelling. He liked exercising, working out with weights, and especially biking on the Sippo Valley and Towpath Trails. He was a member of Epworth UMC church in Massillon and any donations may be made in his name to the church. A celebration of life for Hampton will be held on Saturday, July 22, 2017 at 1 p.m. at the Paquelet Funeral Home. The family will receive friends 2 hours prior from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The family would like to thank the Mercy Hospital 8th floor staff of angels, Mercy Hospice, and Rose Lane nursing facility for their thoughtful care. The family would also like to thank special caregivers Ron Davis and Lori McLaughlin for their years of faithful care.
