H. Miles Shilling, age 91 of Massillon, died on Wednesday, June 6, 2012 at Allay Senior Center in Canton. He was born on November 4, 1920 in Massillon and was the son of the late Joshua and Lura (Oberlin) Shilling. He was a lifelong area resident. Miles was a 1938 graduate of Washington High School. He then served his country in the U.S. Army in Europe during World War II. He went on to work at Corundite Refractories for 42 years, also serving as secretary of the United Brick and Clay Workers Local for many years. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 42 years, Agnes "Inie" Shilling and his brothers, Dwight, Ward and Les Shilling. He is survived by his son, Tim Shilling of Massillon and numerous nieces and nephews. A service to celebrate his life will take place on Saturday at 11:00 A.M. at the Paquelet Funeral Home, 1100 Wales Road NE in Massillon with Rev. Kevin Thomas officiating. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 6-8 P.M. Fr. Thomas Cebula will recite the Holy Rosary on Friday at 7:00 P.M.
