Grant "Sonny" F. Ditch Jr., age 80 of Jackson Twp. was called home to be with his Lord and Savior on January 31, 2023. He was born on November 10, 1942 in Massillon to the late Grant Sr. and Ruth (Hassler) Ditch. He graduated from Jackson High School in 1960. Grant had 24 years in the military including 8 years in the Air Force and served stints in the Army, Navy and Air Force Reserves in Youngstown.
He retired as an Accountant from Republic Steel after 33 years of service. He loved animals and could be found in the backyard feeding the birds, squirrels and deer. In the past Sonny enjoyed bowling, coaching youth baseball and football, but most importantly spending time with his family. Sonny was a known for his big heart and giving nature. He will forever be remembered as a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, brother and friend.
He is survived by Susan Green of the home for 32 years; his children Clifford, Richard, Mickey(Kim) Ditch and Georgia (Jay) Loch; 14 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren; one brother Gregory Ditch and 3 sisters, Judy Barkman, Marilyn Cooper and Barbara (Tom) Calvert; in addition to 3 step-children, Annette, Lisa and Lee; 3 step-grandchildren and the apple of his eye, his step-great-granddaughter Isabella Ann Fulmer, she called Pappy. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother Gary Ditch.
Visitation will be held at the Paquelet & Arnold-Lynch Funeral Home on Friday, February 03, 2023 from 11a.m. until 1p.m. with a service to follow at 1p.m. Burial will be at Rose Hill Memory Gardens. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the American Heart Association, Diabetes Association or the American Cancer Society. Messages of sympathy and support can be left at www.paquelet.com.
