Glen H. Martin

Glen H. Martin, age 86, of Massillon, passed away Saturday, February 22, 2014 at his residence surrounded by his family. Glen was born on April 9, 1927 in Massillon the son of the late William and Adda (Toy) Martin. He was a United States Marine Corp. veteran where he served our country during WWII at the age of 16. Glen retired from Republic Steel in 1989 after 45 years of service. He was a member of the Son's of Herman, American Legion Post #221 and Grace U.C.C. He enjoyed tending to his gardens, deer hunting, and fishing. Along with his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Emma Catherine (McClaskey) Martin in 1994, 1 sister and 3 brothers. He is survived by his son Mike Martin, his daughter and son-in-law Melody and Jeremy Helline, and his grandchildren Gabrielle, Hannah, Christiana, Shelby and Riley. A Celebration of Glen's life will be held on Thursday, February 27, 2014 at 11:00 A.M. at Grace United Church of Christ. Rev. Edwin Shriver will be Officiating. His final resting place will follow at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens where full military honors will be performed. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 6-8 P.M. at the Paquelet Funeral Home and one hour before the service at the church.
