Ma Brenner's Kitchen has closed. Geraldine M. Brenner, 84, passed away Wednesday, January 25, in the same manner she lived her life -- surrounded by family in her home. For decades her dinner table was open to friends and family. The plates didn't match, but the bowls and dishes were piled high with home cooking, and there was always room to pull up another chair. Gerry was born July 29, 1932, in Massillon and was the daughter of the late John and Suzanna (Elavsky) Yatsko. She is preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Wilfred Carlan Brenner. Her years were marked by faithful tending of her family, home, farm and church. Those who purchased her rag rugs at craft shows or received a crocheted afghan know her hands were rarely idle. Even when watching a Duke Blue Devils basketball game she was redeeming the time. Gerry leaves behind the legacy of an ordinary life well-lived by an imperfect person covered in the grace of our perfect God. She is survived by her children, Wilfred C. (Karen) Brenner of Wooster, Jane A. (Michael) Arntz of Massillon, Blake J. (Kim) Brenner of North Lawrence, Brian E. (Cindy) Brenner of North Lawrence and Beth A. (Joe) Reedy of Clinton; sisters Rosie Rowlands, Irene Klever, and Eleanor Blackman; brothers Bill (Donna) Yatsko and Edward (Jo) Yatsko; 16 grandchildren; and three great-grandsons. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Calvary Chapel, 8151 Stuhldreher St. NW, Massillon, Ohio 44646.
