Geraldine E. Wentzel

Geraldine E. "Gerry" Wentzel, age 90 of Massillon, passed away on Saturday, December 3, 2016. She was born on January 17, 1926 in Massillon and was the daughter of the late Godfrey and Thelma (Abel) Maier. Following high school, Gerry married Homer Wentzel, they had a daughter, Jane Evon Wentzel. Along with her parents, Homer and Jane preceded Gerry in death. For many years, she worked as a loan officer at the former First National Bank. She was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ. She was also a member of the Massillon Women's Club and the Canal Fulton Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star. She is survived by her sister, Patrice (Dick) Snavely, her brother, Jack (Betty) Maier and several nieces and nephews. The family would like to give special thanks to the staffs at the Inn at University Village and Crossroads Hospice. A chapel service at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens will be conducted on Wednesday, December 7th with Rev. Larry Lalama officiating. The family will receive friends at the chapel from 10-11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the charity of the donor's choice. Arrangements are pending.
