Gerald L. Shafrath Sr.

Gerald L. Shafrath Sr. age 70 of Massillon passed away Wednesday Feb. 16, 2011 at Affinity Medical Center. He was born Oct. 3, 1940 in Richville to the late Austin & Leona (Sheetz) Shafrath. For the past 30 years he owned and operated Jer’s Pizza in Brewster. Jerry will be remembered for his love of Elvis and Tom Jones, boating and riding his Harley with his best buddy, Gary Myers. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by three sisters & two brothers: Mary Jane Shafrath, Bernice Halter, Zeta Malony, Charles & Tom Shafrath. Jerry is survived by his wife of 25 years, Betty (Parsons) Shafrath, a daughter Kathie (Robert) Forbes and a son Gerald (Kris) Shafrath; four stepchildren, Michelle (Bill) Rose, Diana (Fred) Davis, David Klar and Robert Klar. Grandchildren: Nicole, Shawnisty, Ross, Paige, Kyle, Kayla, Bill, Brett, Stephanie, Ronnie, and five great grandchildren; Landen, Grace, Ceanna, Adysen and Dani. A Memorial Service will be Monday at 10:30 A.M. at Paquelet Funeral Home, Fr. Ed Gretchko will officiate. His final resting place will be St. Mary’s Cemetery.
