Gerald (Jerry) Krisher, age 88, passed away August 13, 2021. Jerry was born on April 1st, 1933 in Massillon, Ohio to the late Glenn H. Krisher and Mary Alice Krisher. He was involved in sports from a very young age. He played football for Chuck Mather at Massillon High School and was on multiple state championship teams. He then played football at Ohio State for Woody Hayes. Jerry was a member of Ohio State’s 1954 Rose Bowl and National Championship team. He received two gold pants for beating TTUN in 1952 and 1954. He graduated from Ohio State in 1955 and became a lifelong Varsity O member. Jerry joined the Timken Company in 1956 and worked for the Timken Company for 36 years. He started in the Chicago warehouse and was on his way to an accomplished and rewarding career. After six months in Chicago, Jerry was assigned to the field sales office in Philadelphia. He was promoted to District Manager in Los Angeles, then to Chicago and quickly to the company’s Canton headquarters as Assistant General Manager – Service Sales. Jerry was then promoted to General Manager International Sales & Marketing. He was promoted to General Manager-Service Sales, a position he held until he retired. While at Timken he traveled the world, made countless friends, and was a recognized leader and industry expert. He continued to attend meetings with the PALS Club (group of industry executives) after his retirement. He was an avid golfer, enjoyed fishing, read spy and suspense novels, and spent his evenings watching the Cleveland Indians. He was a former member of Brookside Country Club where he was a Member Guest Champion and a frequent gin player. He served as a member of the Board of Directors of the Automotive Service Industry Association (ASIA) and was a member of the National Automotive Parts Association (NAPA), and the Bearings Specialist Association (BSA). He was inducted into the Greater Canton Fastpitch Hall of Fame and served as Treasurer for the organization. Jerry was also a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles. He loved having his birthday on April 1st and looked forward to the annual avalanche of birthday cards that he would receive from friends, family and co-workers. He remembered every phone number he ever dialed, every address he ever visited, and every box score he ever read. Jerry was a devoted husband, father, son, friend and mentor. His greatest qualities were his kindness, his loyalty, and the way he made everyone feel special and important. He positively influenced many lives and will be greatly missed. Jerry is survived by his wife of 64 years, Martha Krisher (nee Grimm). Jerry was preceded in death by his brothers Thomas Eugene Krisher and Wayne Krisher, and his sister June Ann Krisher. He is survived by daughters Karen (Tom) Rosenberg, Joan (Dwight) Jellison and Allison (Michael) Tirmonia, and grandchildren Casey Jellison, Madeline Jellison, Jackson Tirmonia and Olivia Tirmonia. The family will receive friends at the Paquelet Funeral Home , 1100 Wales Rd NE, Massillon, Ohio 44646 on Wednesday, August 18, 2021 from 10:30 am-12.00pm with a Celebration of Jerry’s Life to be held at 12:00pm in the funeral home.
